A racy game show has caused outrage after a male contestant appeared to get an er*ction when forced to press himself up against a woman. South American TV watchdogs have called for Combate – a Peruvian show in which scantily-clad men and women face off each week for prizes – to be cancelled.
During the show, a man and a woman from each team clung to a mock cliff above a swimming pool while teammates answered general knowledge questions.
That left the men pressed up tight behind their female partners, who were wearing revealing swimming costumes.
Contestant Bruno Agostini, who eventually fell into the pool, was ‘visibly aroused’ by the close contact with his partner in the game, according to the show’s critics.
The Foundation of Ethical Journalism in Peru has called for broadcasters ATV – one of Peru’s most popular TV channels – to scrap the show.
The foundation’s president, Alfredo Vignolo, claimed Combate broke Peruvian broadcasting law, saying the show is ‘bad for female dignity’.
It has sparked an online debate in recent days in the South American country, which is known for its conservative attitudes towards marriage and sexuality.
