Fayose Sacks Chief Press Secretary for ‘Failing to Ensure Coverage of His Presence at Eid Prayers’

Ayodele Fayose, has sacked the state's chief press secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, for allegedly failing to cover his participation at this year's Eid-El-Kabir prayers in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
Via a statemnet signed by the state;s special assistant on public communications and new media, Mr Lere Olayinka , Adelusi was sacked for ‘dereliction of duty’ and have no further details.

A source in the governor’s office however told newsmen that Adelusi’s offence was his failure to ensure that Fayose’s presence at the Eid prayers where he was spotted dressed in a turban, was adequately reported in the media.

It was also confirmed by Olayinka that governor Fayose was upset with the fact “that there were no journalists in his entourage and that they were not on the ground to cover his entry into the prayer ground.”

Adelusi was quoted by the state broadcasting service to have denied knowledge of his sack as it had not been formally communicated to him. He also claimed he could not have arranged for a media coverage for an event he was unaware of.

Olayinka also told the Punch that he issued the statement concerning Adelusi’s sack based on the governor’s personal directive.
