Imo Collapsed Building: Second Corp Member Dies

Ngozi Oformezie,second corp member from the Imo collapse building, who sustained injuries in the is dead. 
According to report, Ngozi, gave up the ghost on Wednesday, two days after her boyfriend and fellow corps member , Chinedu Isiogugu , gave up the ghost . Her death brings the casualty figure to six after four persons– two babies and two adults – died at the scene of the incident on Sunday.


The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the death . 

“ She was transferred from the police clinic in Owerri to the University Teaching Hospital , Port Harcourt , Rivers State , on Tuesday for further medical observation . .

Unfortunately, we received news that she died this morning ( Wednesday ) , ” Enwerem said 

A source in the police clinic, who equally confirmed the death , said the victim developed complications during treatment . .

He said , 

“ She developed a urinary problem and we suspected that her kidneys were affected. You know she and the male corps member were trapped in the rubble for about eight hours before they were rescued. .

That could have led to the problem . So, we decided to transfer her to the UNTH , Port Harcourt , for further treatment . Her case was bad , but we didn ’ t expect her to die . She survived the surgery on Sunday , but died on Wednesday . ” .

Oformezie had spoken with  Punchng on Tuesday in pain saying:

  “ I am Ngozi Blessing Oformezie from Anambra State . I studied Adult Education at the University of Nigeria , Nsukka . .

My legs are killing me . Please don ’ t go . Jesus , help me . ” It was gathered that the deceased corps members were lovers and had planned to marry when the three- storeyed building they were living in collapsed.
