Ghanaian Reggae artiste, Ekow Micah has stirred controversy after he quoted a Bible verse and said weed smoking is something the Bible permits.
According to him, the Bible gives testament to the fact that even God smoked, therefore the act should be considered as a calling rather than a crime.
Speaking to Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Ekow quoted Psalm 18:7-8 as proof that God smoked.
The bible verse reads:
“The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it”.
The musician, who was recently arrested and acquitted for possessing the illegal drug, indicated that just like “Wee” is food for Rastafarians, and some prefer alcohol “akpeteshie”, for him, he prefers “wee” just like how some people enjoy Cocoyam leaves (Kontomire).
His comments come after another Ghanaian artist, Samini, called for the legalisation of Marijuana last week, opining that its sale will help boost the Ghanaian economy.
Many have argued that
Ekow Micah’s interpretation of the Bible is wrong.
