A baby girl was left with a horrific facial infection after her parents dismissed hospital treatment in favour of 'black magic'.
When the treatment failed to work, little Tania's family took her to doctors who spent two weeks curing the bacteria growing on her face.
The girl, from a tribal hamlet in Dantewada, India, was covered in puss-filled blisters for two months before finally getting better,Daily Mirror reports...
Dr Rajesh Dhruv prescribed the tot a course of intense antibiotics.
He said:
"The infection started in the face with small foci.
"Due to lack of treatment, poverty, social taboos within the tribal community and negligence by the parents, the condition of the child got worse in the last two months.
"First, they took the child to shamans for a black magic treatment, but when the infection worsened, the parents brought Tania to our hospital two weeks ago.
"With limited resources at our disposal, I treated the child and within days of treatment she showed marked improvement, and now her face is back to normal."Most probably the bacteria that infected Tania were staphylococcus aureaus or streptococcus pyogenes."
