Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” Becomes Most Viewed YouTube Video

If you thought you’d seen the last of Wiz Khalifa’s Charlie Puth-assisted “See You Again” single in 2015, you were terribly wrong. In fact, two years after its release, it’s now the first visual leading YouTube’s most-viewed videos ever, surpassing Psy’s “Gangnam Style” record over the last five years.

The music video, which serves as a bit of a tribute for the late Paul Walker with various scenes from his role in the Fast and the Furious movieshas garnered more than 2,897,575,000 views. The video was released in April of 2015.
Meanwhile, the dance-move spawning “Gangnam Style” has notched 2.894 billion views since it was uploaded in July 2012. Trailing more than 250 million views behind it is the video for Justin Bieber’s “Sorry.”
Reports say that Wiz and Charlie Puth’s video averaged over 3 million views per day in the year of 2017 alone, which is how it easily accomplished the feat. Both the Pittsburgh rapper and the “We Don’t Talk Anymore” singer released statements about the huge achievement
“I’m super excited and grateful to everyone who supported the song and video on YouTube, and happy to inspire and impact so many lives,” Wiz said.
“I remember when I signed up for YouTube in 2007 and had hopes of uploading a video and it reaching 10,000 views,” Charlie stated. “Now a decade later, it feels incredible to be a part of the most-viewed video on YouTube.”
But don’t expect Wiz Khalifa to hold this record for quite the same time. Luis Fonsi’s Despacito (the version sans Bieber) has racked up nearly 2.5 billion views in just five months and seems poised to overtake See You Again in short order.
